Major version changes (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc.) mean that the underlying production rates have been updated - so running the same samples through the two different versions would give different results. Minor version changes (2.1, 2.2, etc.) mean that only the calculator interface has been updated - so running the same samples through different versions will give the same results. Version 2.0 of the calculator matches the paper describing CRONUScalc (Marrero et al., 2015),including the production rates described in Borchers et al. (2015), Marrero et al. (2015b), and Phillips et al. (2015). All the papers can be found in the two CRONUS-Earth Special Volumes in Quaternary Geochronology. Exposure ages are reported in 'ka before 2010' and this may not line up with other systems, like radiocarbon, which are commonly reported with respect to 1950. Calculating ages for batches of samples can take a long time based on the number of samples, nuclide, and scaling scheme. If the calculator weren't able to send you results, you would have to keep your browser window open for the entire sample run. If the browser window were to close, access to the results of your run would be lost. By entering an email address, not only will you receive your sample results but you will also be alerted as soon as your samples have finished processing. While your personal email address would be best for receiving your sample results (and we don't save email addresses) there are alternative email services you can use like or Guerrila Mail. These services are much less secure than an email service that requires a username/password to log in (so anyone could access your samples if they know where to go). Some of these services only keep the email for a limited amount of time. We recommend only using a secure, personal email for your samples.
